Who Is Amanda?

My name is Amanda Eastham. In 2006 I founded Amanda Therapy. I have completed a Diploma in Remedial Massage and Aromatherapy. I have been a Reiki Practitioner since 2006, when I completed both Reiki 1 and 2 Certificates with Reiki Master Margot Brock. As a provider of Massage and Reiki to heal the mind, body and spirit, I strive to be a leader in Massage and Healing Therapies to assist women to heal themselves in a holistic way. I am passionate about, and committed to, the health and wellbeing of women.

Your Introduction to Massage

As early as 3000BC, massage was used as a therapy in the far east corner of the globe, making massage one of the oldest treatments used by human kind. In 5 BC in ancient Greece, therapists recommended, to maintain  good health, a massage using oils, be received daily after a perfumed bath. Greek physicians were frequently treating people who suffered from pain and stiffness in the joints. The relaxation and healing powers of massage have been well documented over the last 5000 years. The therapeutic value of applying oils and rubbing parts of the body, to lessen pain and prevent illness, was recognized among the ancient Mediterranean civilizations. In ancient times scented oils were almost always used when giving massages, creating an early form of aromatherapy massage.

 

Massage is commonly used to induce general or deep relaxation, so that any tension or strain experienced in the rush of daily life can be eased and eliminated. Massage heals the mind as well as the body and the spirit. It can be used to treat people with hypertension (high blood pressure), sinusitis, headaches, migraines, insomnia and hyperactivity. This includes people who suffer from heart ailments or circulatory disorders.

Massage promotes a feeling of calmness and serenity, and this is particularly beneficial to those who suffer from any form of depression or anxiety. Once depression and anxiety have been dispelled, we are able to deal with problems much more effectively, boosting self-confidence and self-awareness.
